Crackle Spirit - Contemporary crackle effect - Owatrol

The Crackle Spirit system made up of 2 different layers makes it possible to obtain contemporary crackle effects.

Properties :

• Fine regular “porcelain” type cracks.
• Aqueous phase.
• Scentless.
• Fast drying.
• Yield: approximately 8-10 m²/L depending on the porosity of the support and the desired decorative effect. .

Application :

• Shake well before use.
• Ready to use, do not dilute.

2 application methods:

Method 1: Directly on colored backgrounds

1. Apply a generous layer of Crackle spirit STEP 1 on already colored or previously painted background, using a brush or a medium-haired roller.
2. Leave to dry for 4 to 6 hours.
   The dry product remains “sticky”.
3. Apply a thin layer of Crackle spirit STEP 2 using a brush or a short-haired lacquer roller. The cracks are generated after a few minutes.
4. Leave to dry for 4 hours before handling.
5. The effect of cracks is then visible by transparency.
6. If you wish, you can apply a paint or an acrylic patina in aqueous phase then wipe off the excess according to the desired effects.
   The wiped color will remain in the cracks and the background color will be revealed.

Method 2: With dyes

1. Tint Crackle spirit STEP 1 the color of the desired cracks, using universal or aqueous phase dyes (approximately 3 to 7%).
2. Apply a generous coat of the product using a brush or medium-nap roller.
3. Leave to dry for 4 to 6 hours. The dry product remains “sticky”.
4. Tint Crackle spirit STEP 2 to the desired final surface color using universal or water-based dyes (approximately 3 to 7%).
5. Apply a thin coat using a brush or a short-haired paint roller. The cracks are revealed after a few minutes.
6. Leave to dry for 4 hours before handling.

Destination :

• Crackle spirit – STEP 1 can be applied to all properly prepared, sound, clean and dry surfaces.
• On substrates with difficult adhesion (plastic, glass, ceramic, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, etc.) the prior application of the Absolute primer undercoat is necessary.

• Crackle spirit – STEP 2 apply on a dry layer (but can be sticky) of Crackle spirit – STEP 1: respect the drying time between coats: 4-6 hours minimum.
