Area of use :

The substrate must be clean, free of dust, completely dry and rough.
It is recommended to sand the surface beforehand with C220 grit.

The application is very sensitive to dust, so it is essential to carry it out in a virtually dust-free environment.

  1. Larger defects in the stone (holes, cracks) cannot be filled or covered with AKEMI Acid Protection Brush and must be treated with a suitable filler before treatment.
  2. The surface to be coated must be cleaned with AKEMI® Nettoyant I.
The use of cleanroom towels is recommended for this.
  3. If AKEMI Acid Protection Brush has not been used for a long time (> 1 week), it should be shaken vigorously for about 10 seconds.
Wait approximately 30 minutes before application so that air bubbles formed during shaking can dissipate.
  4. Apply approximately 200 g of AKEMI Acid Protection Brush per m² of surface.
  5. Then spread the AKEMI Acid Protection Brush as evenly as possible on the surface by pulling slowly with a notched trowel.
We recommend using triangular pointed teeth with a tooth height of approx. 0.7 mm.
  6. A synthetic bristle stain brush can be used on edges and corners that are hard to reach with a serrated trowel.
  7. Once the AKEMI Acid Protection Brush has been distributed on the surface, it is advisable to go over the entire surface slowly and crosswise with a wide stain brush in order to obtain an even distribution.
  8. AKEMI Acid Protection Brush needs about 30-60 minutes waiting time to level out and form an even and smooth surface.
Any remaining defects such as bubbles or too little/too much polish can be reworked before curing.
  9. Then harden the AKEMI Acid Protection Brush with a medium pressure Hg lamp.
It is cured until the surface is dry and so hard that it can no longer be scratched with a fingernail.
Lamps approved by AKEMI® must be used.
Depending on the lamp used and the distance, the product generally cures 1 - 5 minutes / m².
  10. Finish:
To. To obtain a matte finish: Sand with an eccentric sander and 400, 500, 600 or 800 grit paper. Ex. Catalfer Helan 21-hole sandpaper.
    b. To obtain a shiny appearance: Defects such as dust inclusions can be removed by wet sanding (Catalfer D-NF P-2000, art. 2388-2000). Polishing can be carried out with an eccentric grinder and the following reticulated abrasives: Catalfer A.MEX P3000 and A.MEX P4000 (art. 1386-3000 or 1386-4000).
And a final treatment with Catalfer polishing sponge TPLN orange medium (art. 1060-11604) in combination with AKEMI® Liqui Pollish Universal high-gloss polishing paste or with AKEMI® 1S Medium Polish (art. 80157) in combination with a sheepskin (Catalfer Lana, art.10603125).
