SikaSwell-A 2005 - Water swellable acrylic joint profile - Sika

SikaSwell A is an acrylic cord that swells in contact with water, which is used to ensure the connection between sails/slabs and concreting joints for all types of joints and penetrations in concrete.
It has a rectangular profile and is available in several sizes.

Application

Application of SikaSwell S-2 sealant

1. Apply SikaSwell S-2 in a narrow triangular band (triangular nozzle size ~5mm) to the prepared substrate.
2. Extrude a sufficient amount to compensate for the roughness of the surface to be leveled.

Application of SikaSwell A

1. Cut the SikaSwell A profile to the desired length.
2. Firmly pack the SikaSwell A profile into the freshly applied SikaSwell S-2 until a small amount is extruded from both sides of the profile to achieve full adhesion to the surface.
3. Profiles should be placed in max. 30 minutes.
4. Connections and corners must be butted and secured.
5. Allow SikaSwell S-2 to cure for 2-3 hours before pouring concrete.
6. Protect the SikaSwell A profiles against water (eg rain) until the pouring of the concrete.
